Never been in a temple during the Chinese New Year. Since the weather had been superb, I'd decided to go out and take some pictures. It was a good move.
Wong Tai Sin temple was renovated earlier last year. The renovation made the place so much bigger and pleasing to visit. A lot of people were kneeling, praying, seriously shaking the jot sticks asking for a direction to their problems... On watching, I thought of the difficult times in the society. Some people can barely afford to go out a little with their children during the festive season, a lot of people have their problems and sufferings waiting for a solution... on the other hand in the society the rich gets richer, spending a fortune to fight for the legacy of someone who is still alive, or some people are enjoying all the materials given to them but still complaining how much they have suffered or sacrificed...
I arrived at this place where I saw Guanyin. I didn't know there was this place in Wong Tai Sin as I was once thinking of returning to Wenwu Temple. I gave my gratitude, and once again made a wish...
There was this pain deep down that still lingered on when I saw Guanyin, but compared to all the sufferings in the world, it was absolutely nothing. He knows it all. In this life, everyone has to go through what s/he is meant to go through. That's the Chinese belief, and philosophy.
I purposely took a round trip and took the ferry to Hong Kong Island. The new Star Ferry Pier is pretty. So the government had made up for the dissatisfaction that a lot of people had when the Queen's Ferry Pier was moved. It will never be the same, of course, but it is modern and more of a landmark now. I hope more and more with this sort of structure, Hong Kong will be remembered more as a city of mixed characteristics than only of one of material and consumerism.
So voila. Including traveling, it was in fact more than a two-hour visit, but I'd enjoyed it a lot. It was soothing, filled with a bit of reflection and thoughts. Ready for a new start, new colleagues, new jobs, and new challenges.
